Pin on disc instrument

Pin-on-disk tribometers are conventional tools to study tribological or tribocorrosion properties of materials. Typically, a metallic or ceramic pin is pressed against a rotating metallic disc. During the test, the friction force, wear and temperature are continuously monitored.

Cormet has designed and manufactured a pin-on-disk tribometer that operates in a deep-sea environment at 500 bar pressure and 0°C – 120°C temperature range. There is a recirculation loop that pressurises, regenerates and monitors the chemical parameters of the water flow. The electrode potential of the disk can be monitored and controlled as there are a reference and counter electrodes installed in the testing cell.
