Successful Installation of the Fourth HIC testing cell at Corinth Pipeworks, Greece

We’re pleased to share the successful completion of the HIC (Hydrogen-Induced Cracking) container lab upgrade installation at Corinth Pipeworks (CPW), Greece.

Project Overview

The laboratory system now comprises four operational HIC testing cells, marking a significant step forward in testing capacity and system resilience.

This latest installation included:

·         One new HIC testing cell.

·         Flow meters.

·         Shutoff and relief valves.

·         Check valves and water traps.

·         NaOH neutralization containers.

Each component was meticulously installed and tested.

After installation, the new HIC container was purged using nitrogen and a small quantity of hydrogen sulfide, followed by a pressure test at 0.3 bar overpressure with nitrogen to confirm leak-tightness.

One minor leak was identified at an NPT fitting, quickly fixed on-site.

Visual Walkthrough

Our installation included comprehensive photographic documentation covering:

·         Bottom flange connections, hoses, and valves

·         Gas panel configurations before and after component upgrades

·         Water trap and NaOH neutralization container setups

·         Leak testing and system validation steps

·         Connection of water recirculation heating system to the new HIC container

These upgrades significantly enhance the safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability of the CPW's HIC laboratory.

Additional Tasks Completed

In addition to the primary installation, several important maintenance and upgrade tasks were completed such as H2S gas cylinder hose replacement, the clogged gas distribution tube replacement and a comprehensive check of the instrument's main functionalities.

Looking Ahead

This successful installation further strengthens our collaboration with Corinth Pipeworks and underlines our commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and future-ready testing systems.

We’d like to thank the CPW team for their ongoing support and cooperation throughout this project.
